In March of 2006, Otis the Greyhound mix, from Arizona, was found horribly abused and assaulted. Pima Animal Care Center was unable to save Otis. He had to be euthanized because of the serious nature of his injuries: cigarette burns, old and fresh on his body and face, human bites on his left ear per the vet. The dog's tail had been cut off and worn on the belt of the alleged abuser, like a trophy, according to witnesses. Otis was suffering from malnutrition as was he on an illegal tie-out in the yard, along with another female dog. Veterinarians also told detectives that the dog was a victim of sexual abuse and in such bad condition that he had to be euthanized. The owner of the dog was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail on three counts of felony animal cruelty, two counts of animal neglect and one count of maintaining unsanitary premises. He has 4 counts of cruel mistreatment of an animal, a felony and 7 counts of cruelty to animals, a misdemeanor against him.

Another dog was taken from the yard and later gave birth to pups. A female Boxer dog was found dead, in a box, along with her dead pups. The alleged animal abuser is now in jail, under protective custody. A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 10th to determine whether he should stand trial or be declared mentally incompetent. He was arrested in 1993 for domestic violence and later released only to commit heinous acts against a companion pet. THIS ABUSER MUST GO TO JAIL!
