A billboard has gone up on I-40 directly across from the Quarter Horse Association headquarters.
The group that bought it wants to educate passing motorists about horse slaughterhouses in Texas.
The signs are the creation of the National Horse Protection Coalition.
Members say up to 100,000 horses are killed each year in Texas and Illinois. Most of the meat, they say, is shipped to Japan and Europe.
The reason the billboard is near the AQHA is because the organization is not urging Congress to outlaw commercial horse slaughter.
