Bailey, Acid Burned Puppy

Hello Everyone,

On Saturday, June 10th at approximately 2 PM, a family came into the Long Beach Towne Center PETsMART to dump a sad-looking Chow/Shepherd doggy.  The family approached my adoption booth to ask if they could dump their animal on me.  Not that I wanted to take in ANOTHER dog (no space, no money, and SO MANY hard-to-adopt dogs), but I noticed that the dog's hind area was sketchy and black.  I asked the family about the dog's condition, and the woman said someone else poured acid on her dog 1.5 months ago. 

Yes, someone poured acid on this sweet soul.  The owner kept denying that it was her who poured the acid, but regardless, I could not let her take back the dog.  The dog was infested with fleas.  The owner also complained that the dog was ill-mannered for digging holes in her yard. The dog would be better off going anywhere but her home. 

I began calling 15-20 rescue groups, and so far, only 1 rescue replied back saying they could not take the dog.  I took the dog to the vet.  The dog has burns on the butt and the neck areas, but our vet is using antibiotics and a topical cream for treatment since the wounds are healing up.  She seems extremely docile and cowers when you try to take a picture of her.  Naturally so...  The dog was left outside in a backyard and hardly ever given any attention.  She craves for attention and human love.

Bailey really needs a rescue OR long-term foster mom OR a donor who could help with the vet bills and/or boarding.  She has yet to be spayed and vaccinated.  Frustrated with having ended up with SO many large-breed, hard-to adopt doggies in my home, I vowed myself that I would drive the dog to a low-kill shelter...  but it is so emotional.  I have never ever in my life called the animal shelter on a dog/cat or taken an animal to a shelter...  She would be put to sleep in a second with those black burns on her butt.  Bailey breaks my heart.  I am so angry that someone could burn a dog with acid let alone dump their own animal onto someone else.  But it is Bailey that I need to help-- I would like to board her and I will be searching for fosters.  Could any one please help me/us?  I still have Capone, Chico, Spottie, and Ringo being boarded/fostered...and I really need your help.  I feel bad asking around for donations, but in a desperate time like this, I have no other option.  Could someone please help?
