This story was sent to us by another rescuer.  Sad that this little dog who was ignored and neglected for way too long, was euthanized before she got a chance at a better life.  Remember this dog, remember her sweet face and remember to work towards no more homeless pets and no kill shelters. 

This gorgeous Lab x was turned in by her owner with an incredible coat of shame and neglect, a matted heavy coat of fur that had never been removed.  In my mind the owner should have been charged with criminal neglect. Well, Laura decided that she was going to groom this dog Sunday no matter how long it took her.  We got this angel out of her cage and she looked at us with those clear brown eyes and was smiling when we took her outside.  Such a small gesture of kindness but one she had never experienced in her life as a forgotten backyard dog.  Sweet and gentle, good with other dogs, and extremely loving she should have been a beloved part of a family instead of being unvalued and treated like garbage.  

I don't even know how to express how distressed and sorrowful I am that two days after Laura spent hours grooming this healthy but neglected dog she was euthanized.  May she have someone who loves her and cherishes her forever over Rainbow Bridge.  Please think of her now and again, don't forget her and the tragedy that was her short, neglected life.  I can see her smiling as we took her out of her cage and brought her into the sunshine for a few minutes of attention.
