Injured shep boy--needs foster, needs vetting

I was contacted last night about a dog that was hit by a car and has a broken leg that needs to be pinned.  The Humane Society was euthanizing because they do not have funds they will spend on an injured dog.  An employee begged me to take the dog because he has such a great personality.  This boy weighs around 35 # and is a shepherd type dog.  Can anyone help with the vet bill, and is there a place for him if we save him?  I don't have pictures yet, the HS camera has disappeared and it was closing time when she called.  I will get pictures for anyone who wants them, but it will be Friday.  He needs to get the surgery done asap, so please, please help if you can.  I'll try to do the rest for him, but I have no place for him to go.  Our fosters are full, and I'm paying board on way more than I can afford now.
