Nixon and Parker - Special Dogs with Special Needs
Posted 06/28/2006
Many of you remember Nixon! Well, after he had the surgery on his left wrist, we were told that he also needed surgery on his right wrist too.... We have managed to raise $680 (thank you everyone!), but we still have a ways to go.... his surgeries combined have amounted to nearly $4000. We could truly use all the help that we can get. I am a 2 month old American Bulldog mix. I was rescued from the Bakersfield shelter where I was scheduled to be euthanized because I was called a 'Pit Bull mix'. The ladies at PBRSD brought me back to San Diego.... but they didn't know that I was sick. I have Coccidia, which I have passed on to all of my littermates and my foster mom's dogs, and I also have worms - I should have been dewormed when I was 2 weeks old. Today, 05/12/06, I was in emergency vet care, and they didn't expect me to make it through the night. I was on a catheter and IV fluids, and my blood glucose was dangerously low. My vet bills from a 3 day stay totaled nearly $3000.I am now recovering well and starting to gain weight! My foster mom says I will be back to normal in no time! The rest of the puppies that PBRSD brought back from Bakersfield were also sick. Most of them had not received any vaccinations, and none of them were spayed or neutered. It has cost the rescue a just over $2000 to get everyone well. Any help would be most appreciated!Click here to make a donation to help.
