Conway, SC Closing to become Humane Society-
Dogs scheduled to be "depopulated" - CROSSPOST

The following email came from a humane society director in another state.  Some of the dogs are reportedly purebreds, so please distribute to the appropriate rescues.

Today (6/30) the Conway, SC pound will close at 3pm, stay closed, and reopen on July 10th as a humane society.

During this time they are planning to 'depopulate' the dogs. (ugh)

The woman who works there just wants the dogs out, as she does not want to see them 'depopulated.'  She stayed late last night (8 pm) so someone could get there to pick up a few.  There is no fee for any kind of rescue to take these dogs .... Probably no fee for anyone.  Sounds like she will go out of her way to help these dogs.

They have indoor/outdoor kennels, but their entire ventilation system is broken.  No air, no coolness, and tons of feces and urine everywhere.  The girl that was there said she never smelled anything that bad before.  They have over 100 dogs.  German Shepherds, Poodles, Terriers, Red Bone Coonhounds, Boxers, Labs....the list goes on.  She said all but 1 dog was extremely friendly and showed no signs of aggression.

I do not know their method of 'depopulation' but imagine in Conway it is gas.
