French Bulldog Fosters Needed

Posted 06/27/2006

Any interested parties may contact Sally Curatola at SJCURATOLA@AOL.COM.

French Bulldog Rescue Network needs experienced foster homes familiar with brachycephalic breeds, their health issues, quirks, etc.  We have a small number of foster homes that can handle the nice, friendly, healthy frenchies.  But when we get in a foster that may not get along with other dogs or one that has a lot of health issues, we are very limited.  We receive reports of dogs being dog aggressive.  Sometimes this is actually the case, sometimes it's just that the dog hasn't been providing the necessary training and guidelines to know how to live/play with other dogs.  So we need volunteers who are dog savvy, who can take a difficult dog and determine and evaluate whether this is a training issue that can be rehabilitated or a true problem dog.  So obviously these volunteers must have the ability to keep dogs separated until they can determine what is going on with the foster dog.   Anybody that breeds or has an extensive background in rescue or any training experience would be of interest to French Bulldog Rescue Network.

While we would love to speak to all people interested in volunteering, we tend to get the sick/ill because they are coming out of puppy mill/import situations or temperament problems because someone bought one from a pet shop and they had no idea what they were getting into and it's jumping on the dining room table, etc.

Here's a bullet list:

-- brachycephalic experience
-- solid rescue experience
-- training background would be great
-- ability to keep fosters separate
-- ability to evaluate dog or human aggression, whether true aggression or poor training
-- ability to handle special medical needs, severe allergies, diet issues, spinal issues
