Brownie Needs A Little Help

Posted 07/02/2006

Today is Doris’ 88th birthday but we have not been able to save Brownie.  We took him to a Dr Ayl at Animal Specialty Group in Glendale and he confirmed that because of the location and growth of the oral tumor surgery would be too severe to do.  The most heartbreaking of this is that everything else about Brownie is great.  His blood work is good, his lungs are clear, his appetite is great and he is still energetic and social.  The specialist highly recommends radiation to at least try and kill part of the tumor and at least take it down in size.  Brownie is not in pain yet but if the growth of this tumor is not slowed he will be in pain very soon.

Dr Ayl is one of the most recommended Oncologist in this city.  He was very generous with his time and believes so much that the radiation may help that he is waiving his doctor fees for the procedures and for Brownie’s care. Doris saved Brownie from West LA shelter 7 years a go.  The only time she leaves him is when she goes to church and once and awhile to go to the store.  She is devastated but most of all she does not want to see Brownie suffer.

To do the series of radiation the estimate is $350-$400 each time. It is recommended that we do a series of five but obviously we will take it a session at a time to see how it goes. A Dog’s Life Rescue is covering the other appointments, blood work, food, vitamins and driving Doris and Brownie to all appointments.  We need help though to do the radiation.  We just don’t have the funds.  If you can help or know anyone who can help please contact me.  Donations can be made to A Dog’s Life Rescue or directly to the Cancer Specialty Group in Culver City where if we can raise the funds we will get the radiation treatments for Brownie. Below is the information and if you wish to donate to the vet directly contact me and let me know.

If we are able to get enough funds to make this happen to help little Brownie I will make sure you put you in touch with a direct contact at the vet.

Thank you,

Julia
