UPDATE ON 8 HW POS. DOGS IN HENDERSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE
Posted 07/27/2006
Hi All,
I wanted to give an update on the 8 hw pos. dogs in Henderson County Humane Society.
Sunshine, the black lab has had her first treatment. She is doing great!!! She goes back on August 7 and will be given the medicine to kill the larvae in her bloodstream. On August 21, she will go back and have a blood test done, to make sure all signs of the heartworms are gone. She will be given hw prevention monthly.
ALL OF SUNSHINE'S TREATMENT HAS BEEN PAID FOR The complete cost of Sunshine's treatment was $300.00.
We have recieved $342.90 in the paypal account listed under my email address fosterd2@yahoo.com , Henderson County Humane Society. We have recieved $908.00 in donations that have been mailed to Henderson County Humane Society P.O. Box 243 Lexington, Tennessee 38351. That makes a total of $1250.90
Today we took Beethoven, the Bernese Mt. Dog mix and Angel Eyes, the beautiful chocolate colored boy with ice blue eyes and Carley, the little catahoula to Huntingdon Animal Clinic in Huntingdon Tennessee to have their first treatment.
Beethoven weighs 83 lbs and Angel Eyes weighs 82lbs. The cost of their first treatments is $300.00 each. Then when they go back in three weeks for the second part of the treatment it will be $30.00 and then the last visit will be $10.00.
Carley's treatment will be $200.00 for the first part, then $30.00 for the second visit and then $10.00 for the third visit. This will make a total of $920.00 and I will pay that tomorrow. That will leave a balance of $330.90 in the special fund for the heartworm positive dogs treatment. We can get one more dog treated with the $330.90.
We still have:
Candy, the big beautiful black lab that was thrown out on the interstate with her puppy.
Cheyenne who was befreinded by the 80 year old man, but had three of her puppies shot,
Misty, who was brought in by animal control with her 4 puppies to the euthanized.
Brandi who was thrown out with a litter of puppies.
It would be wonderful if we could get the remaining four treated also. We still need approximately $1150.00 to treat the remaining 4, since we have $330.00 left in the account, we are short $820.00.
Some people have emailed me about their vets who will do the treatment at a lower price. I am going to check into this.
I asked about Merial donating the medicine and I got nowhere with that. I want to make sure that I have everyone who donated for my records and I will be mailing you a receipt for your taxes. Please, if you can take a minute, email me the form of your donation. I want to be certain that everyone recieves a receipt and that nothing got lost in the mail etc. According to the records at the vet clinic, one person donated earmarked for Sunshine's treatment. If anyone else donated, the clinic does not have a record of it.
If anyone would like to sponsor a particular dog, Beethoven's and Angel Eyes' treatments are going to be the most expensive, because they are the largest dogs.
Please cross post this to anyone you think might be interested in donating.
Anyone who has a suggestion on getting the 4 remaining dogs treated at a lower cost, please email me with the information. If we have the remaining treatments done in Huntingdon, we will need $820.00 to get them all heartworm free. Thanks to everyone for your generous donations, kind words and prayers. May God Bless you all for your compassion. There were some friends and relatives of yours that made generous donations and I do not have an email address for them. If you had a friend or family member to donate, please give me their email address so I can keep them updated with these dogs progress and give them a heartfelt thank you also. If you know anyone who is interested in adopting one of these guys after they are heartworm free, or if they would like to sponsor a particular dog, please let me know.
Thanks again :-)
Prayers and Paws,
Debbie Foster
