For more than a decade, abandoned, feral and wild street dogs have mattered most to Randy Grim. As founder of Stray Rescue, he's rescued thousands of dogs...including Quentin, the dog who survived the gas chamber at the St. Louis city dog pound (and celebrated his third "re-birthday" in August 2006). He takes his job seriously, but "Animal Tails" is anything but "grim!"

His sly and offbeat humor, his lively guests such as "The Exorcist's" Linda Blair, comic Elayne Boosler, and Brook Dubman of Carol House Furniture fame--and even his trademark "WOOF" at signoff--make Randy one of WGNU's favorite talk hosts. Each week, Randy gives useful advice on choosing and caring for your dog, cat, or other companion animal, talks with others who share his vision, and invites you to make a difference, too!

Aug. 18^th: 

Randy talks ferrets with Andrew Kerman of F.U.R.R.Y. (Ferrets Underfoot Running Round You).  This organization has found homes for over 1000 homeless ferrets!  By the way, Andrew is bringing a ferret in-studio!  Also joining Randy is best author Jonathan Balcombe, who will discuss his book, Pleasureable Kingdom: Animals and the Nature of Feeling Good. 

Aug. 25^th:

Puppy Mills: Randy devotes a full hour to the inhumane treatment of dogs at puppy mills--and what needs to be done to stop the practice with Ledy Van Kavage of the ASPCA in Maryville, Illinois, and Shirley Sostman, who is nationally known for her efforts to eliminate puppy mills--and whom Randy describes as "my mentor and inspiration for more than 20 years."
