In Memory of Angel

Donation fund set up in memory of the puppy in the oven...

Atlanta area animal welfare advocates have gotten together to ask the public to donate to Fulton County Animal Services in memory of the puppy that was found in Fulton County baked alive in the oven.   Fulton County Animal Services, under the management of the Southern Hope Humane Society, serves as the "animal cops" in the Atlanta area, investigates approximately 70 cases of animal cruelty a month and impounds hundreds of abused animals every year.   The "In Memory of Angel" fund has been established by the Southern Hope Humane Society to provide veterinary care and surgeries for abused and neglected animals at their Fulton shelter.

Animal rescuer Sandra Browning, who specializes in rescuing Chihuahuas, thought of the idea of starting a fund because she wanted to turn a sickening abuse situation into something positive for other abused animals.   Says Ms. Browning, "This puppy in the oven situation occurred in Fulton County and I know they take in so many abused animals at their shelter. I also know about all the great work that Southern Hope Humane Society does at the Fulton shelter and that they would use any money donated to help abused and neglected animals." Louise Stewart, an Atlanta animal activist who attended the Moulder trial about this case agrees.  "Southern Hope takes in hundreds of abused pets at their Fulton shelter every year and I know how expensive it can be to treat these animals.   Donating to the "In Memory of Angel" fund will help the shelter offset these costs so that these dogs and cats can be rehabilitated and eventually get adopted into loving homes."

Executive Director Susan Feingold states, "It was so thoughtful of Sandra and the others to think of this idea. The number of abused and neglected animals that we take in every year is staggering and we have charged 235 people with cruelty to animals so far this year alone. We would greatly appreciate any financial help for these deserving mistreated pets."

Animal lovers who would like to donate to the "In Memory of Angel Fund" can do so online by visiting the website www.fultonanimalser vices.com, by calling the shelter at 404-794-0358 or by sending a check to: Fulton County Animal Services, 860 Marietta Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30318.  Because the shelter is managed by the Southern Hope Humane Society, all donations are tax deductible.
